Life As We Know It

Life as a mom can some days be overwhelming. Some days life seems to get the better of me and I come out on the other end a more haggard, well worn woman. But I am learning to embrace this new side that motherhood brings and learning how to lay down my 'type A' expectations of myself and just be the mom that my kids need me to be. Yes, It can be full of  good days and bad days, trial and error. Days when you need help and days that you can say "I've got this". But all in all its about knowing that your worth as a mom and a human being isn't wrapped up in those moments.
You need to always remember what is true about you and your heart and that whether you're having a good or bad mommy or daddy day doesn't determine your worth. If you let who you are rise and fall with the day to day dealings with your kids, home and family, you will be sadly tossed up and down and have no solid place to land when the questions of, Who am I anymore? And, Why am I doing this? Come around.
Take some time to write down who you are, why you're a good parent and what the truth is about your heart and put it in a safe place. When you come to those days and moments when you have questions floating around your mind or the day is just getting the better of you, you have something to pull out and read to remind you of who you are.
Know you are not alone, we all have good days and bad days but its about learning along side your children and not pretending you've got it all figured out. Becoming a parent is a great gift but learning how to parent takes patience, wisdom and true love.
